RIP My Friend

In loving memories of Patricia Alamanda Putri, a friend.
1991 - 2013
We miss you.

I am sorry Pat. You get taken away from this World at such a young age. Your jumpy personality makes us pissed and happy at the same time. It's great that you get to hop around and know as many people as possible. But as a close friend we cannot help but feel jealous, cause we cannot have you to ourselves. Nonetheless, every lives you touch, you bring them joy.
Such an easy going person, really bubbly and silly. A girl who is a coward cause she doesn't dare to talk to her crush. A girl afraid of cockroaches as much as Jess. A girl who prefers to take 2 minutes taxi ride instead of walking. A girl full of laughter and never fail to influence the people around her. No matter how innocent you are, you are our you. Maybe people call you as puput, but you will always be our Pat. You will always be my 'nenek'.
Rest in peace my friend. May we see each other in the afterlife.

Birthday month

So let's start with a new bag and wallet. I don't tend to like bulky boxy bag. But I saw this and I love it. So ya need that.
Then I received some presents.
Not a fan of roses but I really love this. It's just so nice. Smell clean and fresh and atas and in the end the roses linger but not overpowering. And it's a nice rose scent. Thank you Kalai.
Lastly, I got 3 cakes. Yummy cakes.
So ya that's all for this month. I'm pretty much done with my 3 months no buy. But I will continue trying not to buy. So far I did buy stuff from luxola. I have a referral link for that too. And bought them
Cause it was on sale. Will put it on next month haul. That's it. Happy Halloween.

A City of Cats

Love cats?

So I had a little getaway to Kuching, Sarawak. Stayed at Margarita Hotel. It was ok. I forgot how much it cost to/from the airport. It's a fix fee for taxi.
It's quite spacious. I just love king size bed. So much room to throw your bag on.
The bathroom was ok. The bathtub is just way to tiny. Taking a shower was not fun. I rather they have just a proper shower. Water will get out and wet the bathroom floor and I hate wet floor.
The hotel view. There's a mountain, remind me of HK. The weather was ok. Quite hot, but not as crazy as Sg.

This is the many choice of breakfast food. It has a pretty ok selection. I love the black olive and the toasted bread with olive oil. I like putting walnut in yogurt too. There's cute mini pancakes and waffles but I never take that.
You have to eat midin, their traditional veggie. Its really good and I don't know where else you can find it. We ate ours at Top Spot. Basically it's like a food center like Newton, but it's just seafood stalls.
Our stingray is huge. It's 1.2kg. It's overcook and doesn't taste like the normal stingray. We tabao it in the end. Like 700g of it and ate it for supper with cup noodles. The curry bamboo clam is unique and it's quite nice especially if you dip the fried sotong in.
You have to eat the lobster there as its pretty cheap. Wanted to get the one huge lobster, but it was sold out. We were a tad too slow.
Another food you have to eat is their noodle(kolok mee) and the 3 layers coffee(teh c peng). It's hard to see the layers from this photo but it's there. I do prefer the hot one.
Our last dinner was spent in Koka. It was normal, slightly cheaper than Sg. But I feel the one in Sg is nicer. And they have their regular there, so we wasn't treated as what I had expected. My standard is quite high. I can say my partner was not complaining. But I miss Koka fried rice. It's one of the nicest fried rice I've tasted. Oh I finally tried fried ice cream, it's quite nice, from the food vendors along the Sarawak river (Waterfront), but it's way too oily.
Lastly we eat the kueh lapis. Tried ours from Dayang Salhah as it was recommended as the best. I don't know cause I never tried the rest. But we had to cross the river to get there. It was nice in the shop, you can try as much as you want, but when we bring it home it was just so-so. So go there, experience the RM0.5 per person per sampan ride, and taste the kueh. Maybe buy one if you feel bad, but it really wasn't nice when eaten at home.
So ya, we stroll a lot. Got hot and feel sian. It was relaxing, but I just wish there were more food around. A pointless relaxing 4 days if you ask me.

If you also ask why I didn't go to their museum or visit the long houses? I will say I find it pointless. From travel bloggers and pictures, I feel that I've seen it that I've experienced it. So the money spend going there is not worth. Rather just chill in the hotel with air con and HBO. Yes lame, but it's good lazy days. Doing nothing is my favorite thing to do. Especially since when you go back to Sg, you have to do everything. So I rather like my nothingness. But if I were to choose all over again, I think I would have book a place near the sea. Their beach(es) looks nice. And maybe go for trekking or something. This is the first trip that we go and we know nothing about. So it's pretty scary and confusing. But the main reason to go there is just for chilling and enjoyment.

So ya. Oh, we did went to the mall, empty inside. Tua Pek Kong Temple, the oldest temple, to offer some incense. Walk through the Chinatown, really old feel and not enough snacks/food store. The wet market was pointless too. It will be great if you have a kitchen to cook at, but nah.

I feel Kuching is like an empty Bali. There are many pubs around. A few clubs and stuff, but it's just too empty. There is a potential if tourist would just visit. Like a party island, but I doubt they want that as their tourism strategy. But yes, potential. All I could think of when I see the vacant shops or the empty store was how do these people survive?

As a cat city, there wasn't much cats too. I only saw maybe 3/4 in total. So all in all I feel you really need to be a city kid to visit Kuching as only then you'll get to enjoy doing the touristy stuff. It's a nice town with a flair of all religion living in harmony. Everywhere you look, you'll see a temple, a mosque and a church building. It's really cool. Hindus temple too I guess. Red, white and green living in harmony. I really like that. But yes, if you want to get off the busy life and want travel by plane, Kuching may be a place you can hide. If not, a boat ride sanctuary to Batam is ideal.

Oh there's nothing much at the airport. So don't reach the airport too early. The duty free is cheaper in Sg. For more info, just search "what to do in Kuching" on Google.

October

Usually by today, I have everything up on my blog. But for some reason I don't want anything. I mean of course I want something. But I don't have anything in mind. I already got my kindle and that's like the best thing ever.
I kind of put reading aside, so having a kindle is like having the two things I like together. Like everytime I read using it, you will be in my mind.

I eat an awesome buffet. Courtesy of Sophie. I can't take alcohol. But I'm gonna practice. Cause in 5 years time, I'm sure we will do it again. We will remember to put strawberries in this time.

This year I managed to meet up with everyone except Michelle. But it's kind of awkward to. Oh well. Take it slow.

And I got my own dedicated post on PL wp. http://gabrieltphotography.wordpress.com/2013/09/29/to-a-friend/
So sweet.

September ends

Kindle kindle kindle. And the casing which I think it's heavier than the kindle itself. But yay I finally can read those books I have on my hard disk. Thank you.
I got a bouquet of balloon flowers during the pink brunch. So awesome. I never pay for it. But I seriously did not buy anything this month. I used my money instead on food and transport.
Finally met up with HM and she got me this jacket/blazer. So awesome.
Love meeting with people.

Watching Drama

I don't watch drama. Well anymore. But that's also not true. Having to share a room with Kelly makes it hard not to see her computer. So I always did. And even though I don't normally follow it, but I roughly get the story. Plus I always ask Kelly how was it. I just wanna know the ending.

Anyway, I watched the ghost drama. And I got addicted. Son of my master it's call. It's about a girl who can see ghost. And she met a guy who is the CEO of a shopping mall. He is also her shelter. If he touch her, the ghost disappear. He is not afraid of ghost as he say the person you can see if more scary than the ones you cant see.

So they both are as different as night and day. She talks about thing he doesn't see or hear. So it's like as if she's talking rubbish most of the time. And she doesn't want that. As in she doesn't want him to think of her as such. He likes her cos she think that she keep coming to him and thus he got no choice but to be enchanted by her. Cause he end up getting used to having her in his life. Which is so true.

Earlier on he keep asking her to go away. But she kept coming back. Coz he is her shelter. She needs him. Even though he throw her out she put her pride aside to be with him.

In the end. He almost died trying to save her. So she run away instead.

He told her I tell you to go away cause I'm confident that you will always come back.

Hais. I really like the guy. As in he is so cool. He act all cool when he is like anxiously waiting for the girl. Anyway the story is ok. It's a refreshing story from all the other typical story. It's like a bit more direct and it doesn't beat around the bush as much. So it's good.

August, bday present shopping

So I am committed to do a 3 months no buy. I am also doing a project 5 pan. But it seems that I am finishing other stuff instead of the 5 items. Anyway I did some damage in August.
This will be my birthday present to myself. I only open one of them. I'll probably open it one by one. But for now I just need one.

I also bought Essence stuff cause they are inexpensive and really good. Well some of them are. Like the lip liners is really good. Rimmel, I bought in July but it only arrived in August. But ya, more lipsticks and the scandaleyes in nude. Trying my best to learn to apply eyeliner.
So ya. I need to buy presents though.

The Boyfriend Tag

My dear friend(s), if you are reading this, I encourage you to do this tag as it is fun. It is a great way to see how well your boyfriend know you. If he doesn't already, after this tag, he will. So there will be a list of questions, and ask him to give you the answer. Post it on your blog, or just ask for fun. But I like to read too, as its also a way for me to get to know you better.

This tag has been going around in YouTube since ages ago. And I don't know why but I end up watching them. And now I'm interested, since you and your boyfriend is going to be a part of my life too. Somehow. So do them kay.

July

That's pretty much it. The amount of stuff I bought. I don't go online buy. Ok I lied. I'm still waiting for my Rimmel products from Asos to come. I bought a dress pj from gmarket too. It's rather cheap for $5. But I love my new sandals most. It's light turquoise and has a tiny mini little heels.
Oh the acrylic paints too. Buy from Malaysia for RM4.90. In Sg it's $2.40. The quality can be better. But its ok I guess. Not much nailart I do nowadays.
